Stryker Rolls Out Incompass Total Ankle System

Stryker announced it will launch its Incompass total ankle system at this year’s American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) Annual Meeting.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-cleared system is meant for patients with end-stage arthritis and introduces an innovative implant with an enhanced instrument platform, according to the company.

Incompass was developed to mimic Stryker’s Infinity and Inbone with a similar implant profile, fixation, and sulcus articulation. Leveraging these two legacy designs, the company created Incompass to advance clinical performance, address evolving surgeon needs, and deliver value to hospitals and patients.

The system provides intraoperative flexibility by allowing surgeons to adjust implant configurations in real time to support patient-specific needs. It includes 3D-printed porous metal tibial and talar components that were engineered to promote early bony ingrowth—often as early as four weeks, according to Stryker.

By combining implant options and reducing instrumentation, the company believes the system will help reduce procedural complexity, enhance decision-making, and lower sterilization demands.

The implants were designed using SOMA (Stryker’s Orthopedic Modeling and Analytics) tool, which analyzed patient anatomy from arthritic ankle CT scans in its Prophecy database. SOMA was leverages to study bone quality and optimize implant location.

More insights were gained from over 80,000 Prophecy scans, the company said. Incompass’ instrumentation was refined with input from a global clinical advisory team of experienced foot and ankle surgeons and informed by over 100,000 total ankle cases.
